Report on Library Needs in Lu Wang Town School District, Da Wu County

​

Library is the soul of a school, primary and secondary school library is the extension of the classroom, is the place where teachers and students to pursue knowledge, access to information, improve themselves, but by the financial constraints and other factors, Lu Wang town primary and secondary school library in the construction and development encountered many difficulties. Lu Wang Town is located in the eastern part of Da wu County, more than 50 kilometers from the county town, east of Hong'an County adjacent. Lu Wang School District has a total of 2934 students, of whom 643 are poor,  out of these 643 below property line students, 622 registered within the county and 21 registered outside the county are for some forms of financial assistance programs.

 

The district currently has 1 junior high school with 893 students, the school library has 12,000 books, mainly periodicals, philosophy, textbook references, and fewer classic books and books students like. Nearly 30% of the books are textbook reference materials and exercises, but with the curriculum reform, there is no reference value, 40% of the books are old, and some have been broken, there is no teachers' manuals to enhance the teaching and scientific research needs.

 

There are 4 primary schools with 2,041 students, the total school libraries have 27,000 books, and 35% of the books are books of Marxism, Mao Zedong Thought, etc., which are not attractive to primary school students. For reference books mainly, the content is old, the renewal rate is not high, the types of book are not diversified, there are 20% of the books are torn and incomplete.
