Shitai County, Anhui Province

Yuqing Zhou, an 8-year-old girl living in the Shitai County, a mountain area, gained a lot of weight because of lupus erythematosus medication. Today, she received an 800 RMB from Mr. Bian, President of the Shitai Public Welfare Association entrusted by ACUVA. This girl and her family were very happy for that. Yuqing was born in Bijia Village, Qidu Town, deep in the mountains of Shitai County. Three people of her family, Grandmother, Mother and herself, live in an old-fashioned house built with bricks and tiles. Her father, Shengxiang Zhou, died of illness last year, and his treatment costed all family savings. The elderly grandmother was deaf-mute, disabled and in poor health. Her mother was married from Guizhou and had never schooled. What’s worse, in September of this year, Yuqing was found to have lupus erythematosus. Every month, she had to go to Hefei, the capital city of Anhui Province for her disease treatment at the Children's Hospital of Anhui Province. Undoubtedly, her treatment and study will be a huge expense for such a family without income. So, ACUVA would like to do its best to help her continue studying.

Shitai is a mountainous county in Chizhou, Anhui Province, also the third point after Nayong, Guizhou and Hubei for ACUVA to aid your students living in poverty. In Shitai in August, though being exposed to scorching sunshine and severe heat (37 ℃), President Bian of the Shitai Public Welfare Association and his colleagues spent a whole day on walking along the mountain roads to bring financial aids to several kids, including Mengfan Peng (13 year-old) , Kuanhong Shen (10) , Zemin Wang (10) and other five students by 800 RMB per kid from ACUVA. Among them, three boys, Zemin Wang (13 year-old, in 6th grade), Jiangchi Wang (10, in third grade) and Kenong Wang (10, in third grade) are from a poor family in Gongxi Village, Renli Town. Their mother could not bear poverty and ran away from home when these children were very young. In order to take care of these children, their father has to earn a living at home. Though their life is extremely arduous and troublesome, this father still insists to support children to go to school. When President Bian, on behalf of the ACUVA, arrived in their home, only two twin kids were at home who accepted the donation with delight and shared their learning situation with President Bian.

Mengfan Peng , a 10 year-old student in fourth grade, lives with his grandpa, grandma, mother. Her grandpa is suffering from uremia and needs dialysis every week; Her grandma has coronary heart disease and her mother, as a patient of 2th grade psychiatric and finger disability, lost the ability to work. Her family lives on subsistence allowances from the local government. Today, Mengfan specially wear a skirt and wore a hairpin of the same color. With a bashful smile, she accepted the scholarship from ACUVA and showed her thanks to kind donators.

Kuanhong Shen, a 13-year old boy in 7th grade, looks taller than his peers. Kuan Hong lives with his father and mother in an old brick-and-tile-structured bungalow. Mother is deaf-mute, and can only do some manual work at home; Deming Shen, his father, fell down accidentally while working on the mountain in 2014 and broke his spleen. Though he survived the operation of removing his spleen in time, in that accident, he was hit by a big stone which caused dislocation of his leg bone, and finally, resulted in disability of this leg. Thus, what he only can do is working at home. The whole family has no additional source of income. This unadorned father and son thanked deeply for the kind help from ACUVA and the Shitai Public Welfare Association.
